CGU’s Master’s in Christian Leadership program is designed to prepare individuals for leadership roles in Christian organizations such as churches, non-profit organizations, and religious institutions. The program includes courses that cover various aspects of Christian leadership, including biblical studies, theology, ethics, church history, leadership theory, and organizational management.
Students in the program will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to lead and manage Christian organizations effectively. They will learn to develop and implement strategic plans, create and manage budgets, recruit and train staff and volunteers, communicate effectively, and navigate ethical issues. They will also gain an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that arise in Christian leadership roles.
The program includes practical components such as internships and fieldwork, allowing students to gain hands-on experience. Additionally, students can engage in research projects or attend conferences and seminars focused on Christian leadership.
Upon completing the program, graduates will be prepared to take on leadership roles such as pastors, ministry leaders, non-profit directors, or organizational managers. They will have the knowledge, skills, and ethical framework needed to lead effectively, serve their communities, and positively impact the world.
Each of the following courses is 3-semester units. The total number of credit units of CGU’s Master in Christian Leadership is 30.
- Biblical Studies and Exegesis: This course will cover interpreting and applying biblical texts to contemporary Christian leadership contexts.
- Theology and Ethics: This course will explore theological and ethical perspectives on Christian leadership, including discussions around values, morality, and ethical decision-making.
- Leadership Theory and Practice: This course will cover leadership theory, communication, and practices applicable to Christian organizations.
- Organizational Management and Administration: This course will cover organizational behavior, management principles, and administration within Christian organizations.
- Church History and Tradition: This course will explore the history and traditions of the Christian Church, including the origins and development of different Christian denominations.
- Strategic Planning and Development: This course will explore how to develop and implement effective strategic plans for Christian organizations, including using technology and other resources.
- Conflict Resolution and Mediation: This course will cover topics related to conflict resolution and mediation in Christian organizations, including communication and problem-solving strategies.
- Cultural Diversity and Inclusion: This course will explore issues related to diversity, inclusion, and equity in Christian organizations, including strategies for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Missions and Evangelism: This course will cover topics related to global missions, evangelism, and outreach, including developing effective ministry programs.
- Fieldwork and Practicum: This course will provide students with hands-on experience in Christian leadership through internships and other fieldwork opportunities, allowing them to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings.
